Which reminds me....
Mom, can I have a snack?

Have a fun Wednesday kitties!

OH OH guess what?
My tummy troubles never went away (over two months of suffering) and the vetlady was just grabbing ideas out of thin air, mom was getting quite frustrated with the vetlady -- so anyway, mom brought a whole bunch of my poops in bags to the vetplace!!! Yep, she brought the vet all of my drippy poops. She labeled each bag with the day and time I created it. She triple bag stored it in the fridge too haha
They had my pile of poops alllll day on Monday, and finally Monday night (are you falling asleep yet?) at 8:30 the vetlady called and said, well, guess what?
She told mom that I tested positive for giardia. so I had it all this time. Mom knew I had it but the tests always came back negative...
Mom was very mad that they waited so long to treat me with the right medicines (guess what? they taste horrible) and now mom has to wash the whole house and all of the furniture, and anything else she can get her hands on will be cleaned! She is even washing my own paws.
Mom! I can clean myself!

okay thank you for reading about my poop.

bonkbonk for a sunny day

I didn't know what "giardia" was and had to look it up in Wikipedia, how the heck did you get that ? you never go out. Good to know that you get the right medication now. Your mom was right to bring all your poop to the vet, (hahahaha) ! Now it will get better you will see.

Well, at least now you know and you can get rid of it once and for all. Have your mewmie call Teri and she will tell you what she used to get rid of it. She had to use 2 drugs at the same time, not typical with what most vets do, but her vet contacted a parasite specialist and this is what he told her: Use metronidazole AND fenbendazole at the same time, daily complete litterbox changes for 5 days, rump baths daily for 5 days to wash off any cysts, and to give the medication for 10 days in a row, the metronidazole at 25mg/kg every 12 hours and the fenbendazole at 50mg/kg every 24 hours. The bad tasting metronidazole can be made into not bad tasting pills by a special pharmacy, as can the fenbendazole. If you want to get rid of the giardia, that protocol will work where doing each drug alone doesn't work as well. Teri battled it for over a year when a cat she bought came in with it and gave it to other cats. She had to deworm everyone in the house at the same time and do the box/bath changes with all her cats too, but knock on wood, although it can lay dormant in the system, it has not come back! Have your vet contact my vet if she wants more info or clarification on this. If she won't follow this protocol, you can always bring him to where I work :-)

Wow, Teri is very knowledgeable about this!

Pierro, we hope this clears up for good, soon. Our human would be very annoyed with our vet if the same thing happened to us!

Mom made a bit of a face when she read about your poops in the fridge, Pierro! We will NOT mention this to our Nana! hahahaha!

But what a relief to know for sure what it is and to be able to eradicate the problem! Good for your Mom for her due diligence!

Prinnie & Caesar sure had the right idea! We gang up on Mama for snacks, too. hee hee
Mama says Miss Teri knows what's what. She was going to tell you about both those drugs and changing the litter every day. Mama is also cracking up about your mom carrying all the poops into the v-e-t's office. hee hee
Happy Wednesday!
Love,
Tazo

At our vet we loved the kitty fecal samples in Almond Roca tins.... They are also nice in the fridge too... he he he.

Feel better! And it's why you always need to trust your gut (or your humans)...well if you have gut issues, what else is there to trust?

Thats one loving momma probably storing your goodies right next to her leftover meatload just so she can present them to the vet! Moms are always right!

Hi Pierro,
We are new! We LOLed at the idea of the triple-bagged poops! Your Mommy is smart to know that you weren't feeling perfect.
There are 12 of us at our house so poop is sometimes a *hot* topic here, too. ;-)

We had to giggle at the thought of your Mom going to the vets with labelled poops. Glad she made them sit up and get to the bottom of it (literally haha).

Hope you are better soon and are allowed to wash your own paws.
